Lee Wright Antiques & Interiors Ltd has dated this Giltwood Rococo Console Table to the 18th Century.
Being of small scale, this lovely table is probably French but an Italian origin is also possible. Executed in giltwood throughout, it is in the rococo style with serpentine apron incorporating a central shell and the legs formed of a combination of stacked C scrolls joined with a small stretcher to the back.
It is shaped to match the form of the table, something that would have been difficult to achieve and therefore correspondingly expensive. The decoration on the table consists of leaf and scrollwork and some panelling on the frieze either side of the shell.
