Adams Style Inlaid Mahogany Etagere

19th century
Description

Circa 1890, inlaid mahogany, musical instrument design, two tier oval étagère. The top has a classic Adams style design of inlaid shells, swags, tails, ribbons and bell drops, with inlaid, shaped supports. The larger section beneath with satinwood banding with shell inlay quarter brackets, and a cruciform stretcher towards the base, with shell inlay. The square legs have a slight outward sweep towards the bottom and various inlaid designs.
