Yolanda Gray Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
Originally constructed and upholstered by J.S. Kinsey,178 Ashley Road, Hyde in Manchester (see photo of plaque on underside of couch). Having a rectangular design to the frame of the suite, with a cloud shaped back and a floral carved blind fretwork frame, it comprises of a three-seat couch with two armchairs. The suite is constructed of top-quality solid mahogany; with elegant splayed arms, incorporating carved acanthus leaves and flowers to the horizontal part of the arms, with trailing blind fretwork interspersed with further floral blind fretwork carvings to the vertical shaped sections. The suite benefits from an elegant cloud top rail frame to the back of the suite, with an elegant blind fretwork frieze, which terminates on ball and claw feet, decorated with shell carvings and a carved gadroon moulded frieze. The suite features the original twin panel cane-work to the sides of the arms and single panel cane work to the back. Importantly, the cane work is in excellent original condition. The suite has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality grey structured chenille fabric; finished with matching piping and braiding to the chair frames. The suite features a firm sprung base below. The suite seats up to five people comfortably.

Condition Report:
This suite is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the frame but nothing significant considering its age. The frame has been French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop. It therefore boasts a fantastic colour and patination. The suite retains its original cane work, which is in excellent original condition, with no damage or holes. The frame is also solid with no breaks to the arms or back of the suite. The suite has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard in top quality grey structured chenille fabric; finished with matching piping and braiding to the chair frames. The suite boasts top quality handmade English feather back cushions, which makes this suite exceptionally comfortable to sit against. The seat cushions which are also new, are constructed from fire-retardant foam, makes it comfortable to sit on, without them sagging. All cushion covers feature zips so that the top layers can be removed if they need to be cleaned. Therefore, the upholstery is in excellent new condition, with no signs of fading, wear and tear, or marks. The suite also retains all its original solid brass castors.
