Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau bronze sculptures from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are characteristically fluid, organic, and expressive, frequently depicting naturalistic forms, sinuous drapery, and romanticised human figures.

These sculptures were typically cast in bronze alloy using either the lost-wax (cire perdue) or sand-casting process. The cast metal was then hand-chased, treated with chemical patination, and mounted onto a polished stone or marble plinth.

Authentic pieces exhibit precise chasing work in the details, natural surface wear along high points of the patina, cold-stamped foundry marks or artist signatures cast directly into the metal, and significant weight consistent with solid cast bronze.

Position a bronze bust as a focal accent on a fireplace mantelpiece, marble console table, or within an open shelving unit to create textural contrast against modern paint finishes and contemporary furnishings.

Dust the sculpture regularly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. To protect the patinated surface from oxidation and moisture, apply a light coat of clear microcrystalline wax annually and buff gently with a soft cloth.
