We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Art Nouveau metal sculpture is defined by fluid, organic forms, flowing drapery, stylized hair, and naturalistic motifs popular from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. Figures frequently present idealized female forms integrated with whiplash curves and botanical themes.

Sculptures from this era were frequently cast in speltera zinc-based alloyor bronze, often finished with a dark or polychrome patination to resemble bronze. Plinths were typically fashioned from carved marble, onyx, or slate to provide weight and contrast.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit fine casting details, subtle cold-painted or patinated surface finishes, and historical foundry marks or signatures near the base. Spelter is lighter than bronze, softer on unpainted undersides, and typically joined to a stone base with iron threaded rods.

A decorative bust functions well as a focal point on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or within a bookshelf arrangement. Pairing metal sculptures with natural wood, books, or minimalist backdrops allows the detailed silhouette to stand out.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush to clean crevices without scratching the surface patina. Avoid liquid cleaners, water, or abrasive chemicals on spelter and marble, as these can strip historical patination and dull polished stone finishes.
