Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Victorian burr walnut Canterbury, circa 1850, in excellent original condition. Incorporating a crossbar outer frame with barley twist columns in each corner, capped with small finials, the Canterbury is divided into three compartments, by delicate turned spindles. The compartments are ideal for storing magazines, newspapers or music sheets. Below, a concave shaped hidden drawer opens to reveal additional storage space. The drawer is hand dovetailed with mahogany lined. The Canterbury is raised on its original bulbous legs which retain the original brass castor collars and wheels. The Canterbury reflects a flamboyant and distinctive style, typical of the Victorian period; it has been constructed from the finest timbers.

This item is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this colour and patination cannot be re-created through re-polishing. The panels are complete, with no missing sections and are solid in joint. The feet and brass castors are also all original.
