Description:
This is a fine quality antique French provincial walnut side table from the 3rd Republic period, circa 1870, in excellent original condition. This table which would have been used in a country property in France, incorporates a lovely boarded and top, secured by a mitered frame, finished with a round thumb moulded edge. Below, there is a large single working drawer, which features the original brass drop handle. The drawer is constructed with fine hand dovetailed joints using pine and chestnut, flanked by a geometric moulded frame. Below the drawer sits an elegant reeded moulding, which is present around the whole of the frieze. Four elegant ring turned legs support the table, with a connecting barley twist stretcher for additional support, decorated with a central turned finial and terminating on bun feet.
Condition Report:
This item is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and drawer front, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. There are no stains or cup marks to the top of the table. The single working drawers feature its original brass handle. The drawer is hand dovetailed in chestnut and is in good working order, closing flush to the frame. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
