The Antique Furniture Company has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The pattern was designed by McDowell, Stevenson & Co of Glasgow, circa 1840 and was later copied by other foundries, most notably by the John Finch Foundry, in Dudley Worcestershire. This particular seat is stamped with a number to the back legs.

In very good structural condition with no signs of repair, the white gloss paintwork needs minor touching up where some rust spots starting to appear.
