Description:
This is a fine quality and original antique English Edwardian oak Arts & Crafts hallstand, circa 1910, in good original condition. The top section features a rotating reeded ring, which holds 5 brass double hooks, and is topped with a turned, pointed finial. Below, three straight supports form a tapering frame. The frame displays three further brass hooks, coinciding with a decorative internal turned reeded spacer which boasts an upright finial on top and an inverted finial underneath. Further below, a brass ring is present, threaded through the frame supports, for leaning umbrellas inside of. The base of the frame terminates on a moulded circular plinth, which is suspended off the ground, connecting the ends of the frame. Inserted into the raised moulded plinth is a metal drip tray. Three shaped bracket feet splay outwards from the base of the hallstand frame. This type of hallstand is designed to be freestanding and can be placed anywhere in a room, as it can be accessed from 360 degrees. The item is solid in joint, does not wobble and is ready to use.
Condition Report:
The item is in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. Importantly, there are no missing hooks or pieces of detail (unlike others you see for sale). There are also no breaks to the feet (which is very common with these types of hallstands). This is a single piece item. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
