Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian stick barometer is an 18th to early 19th-century scientific instrument designed to measure atmospheric pressure, housed within a narrow, vertical wooden cabinet typically crafted from mahogany or walnut.

These instruments were predominantly constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, alongside glass mercury tubes, brass fitments, and silvered brass register plates engraved with weather indications.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct cabinetry details such as swan-neck or broken-arch pediments, hand-engraved silvered scales, original mercury glass tubing, and turned wooden cistern covers at the base.

Mount the instrument vertically in a quiet hallway, study, or library space where its slim architectural profile adds historic texture and scientific character to a gallery wall or narrow alcove.

Keep the timber clean using a soft dry cloth and natural beeswax, avoid hanging the item near direct heat sources or damp walls, and ensure the instrument remains upright to prevent mercury spillage.
