Description:
Here is a fine quality and very pretty antique English George II oak occasional side table, circa 1740, displaying a lovely mellow colour, in good original condition. This is a primitive table and would have been used in a simple country dwelling. The table comprises a moulded two-plank top. Below, there is a single working drawer, which features the original brass swan neck handles on shaped escutcheons. The drawer is oak lined and constructed with hand dovetail joints. The table has been handmade with wooden joined peg construction. The table stands on four elegant cabriole legs. The table boasts a superb mellow colour and is in good original condition.
Condition Report:
This table is in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and top but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer retains its original brass handles and escutcheons. There are no breaks or damage to the frame or legs. The table retains a lovely mellow colour and patination. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
