An 18thc Oak Hoof Foot Lowboy

Description

A very unusual 18thC oak low boy with a central drawer and distinctive cabriole legs terminating in hoof feet. Certainly country made, maybe eccelesiastical and possibly Irish in origin. The top is of 2 planks and has a decorative ebonised channel running around its outer edge capped by shaped mouldings. The drawer has fruitwood runners with an original iron lock and a traditional period brass pull.Classically shaped freizes to the front and sides. The legs are very striking and are well shaped and constructed in the correct manner. (The whole piece has been treated for woodworm as a precaution)

Overall a period piece of extreme character and with a distinctive look.
