An excellent quality late Victorian secretaire-bookcase.
c1890.
Made from oak, and from the outside quite a simple design which belies it`s interior.
To the centre are five tall shaped stationary compartments. Below the drawers is a pull-out inkwell, with the original ink bottles. With more storage to the bottom and sides. The two lower drawers and the long central drawer feature a secret way of opening.

The writing surface has an inset tan leather skiver with gold tooling. Surrounded by figured mahogany, which contrasts with the satin-maple beautifully. With the original working lock and key to the fall-front.

With shelving to the top and base.
In excellent antique condition. Minor couple of marks to the top. Interior in excellent antique condition.
Very solid sturdy and strong.
