Japanese Carved and Ebonised Hall Bench

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900, Japanese carved and ebonised hall bench. The profusely carved back has open fretwork and is surmounted by a diving eagle, fighting a pair of entwined dragons. The arms have a carved dragon motif, with elaborate wings and lead on to a seat with blind fretwork to the corners, and a geometric pattern to the front. All on ebonised cabriole legs.
