Gillows: Four-tier Whatnot or Etagere

Description

GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a good quality early/mid 19th century FOUR-TIER WHATNOT (or "etagere") by this famous firm of cabinetmakers.

Constructed of solid and veneered Gonzales Alvez timber and finely made, it features the traditional Gillows baluster gallery with "S" scroll terminals, whilst the four figured veneered shelves are supported on solid uprights leading to turned "toupee" feet and fine quality brass castors. An unusual model from Gillows and very fine quality. 46ins high; 18.5ins wide; 15ins deep (117 x 47 x 38cms)
