Summary:

Here is a superb quality pair of 7ft 10½” wide French antique provincial cherry wood benches, circa 1860, which are very sturdy and in excellent original condition. The benches are constructed from top quality solid cherry wood using the traditional peg construction method with sturdy mortise and tenon joints. The seat ends are elegantly arched at either end to provide an attractive shape and give the benches some detail. The benches rest on splayed ring turned legs, united at each end by stretchers for added strength and stability. As these benches are constructed of cherry wood, there is a fantastic soft grain configuration to the seats.

As the benches boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.

Condition Report:

The benches are in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As the benches retain the original polish, they have a stunning colour and patination. This stunning colour cannot be recreated if the item is re-polished. The cherry wood also gives a fantastic grain configuration to the benches. The benches stand firm on the ground; they are solid in joint and ready to use.
