Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian stick stands emerged during the 19th century as essential hallway accessories designed to hold walking canes and wet umbrellas. Foundries used liquid iron cast into detailed moulds to create sturdy, mass-produced decorative stands featuring intricate scrollwork, classical motifs, and foliate themes.

These items were constructed primarily from heavy cast iron poured into sand moulds, resulting in detailed relief work and structural stability. Most feature a semi-circular or rectangular frame with a removable or integrated base drip tray to collect rainwater.

Authentic pieces often feature registration diamonds or numerical stamps on the reverse showing the pattern registration date. They display crisp casting details, substantial weight, and evidence of original paint layers or historical surface oxidation.

Positioned near an entryway or porch, these stands serve as functional storage for walking sticks or umbrellas while adding structural character. The metallic form contrasts effectively against light modern walls or textured wallpaper in modern entrance halls.

Dust regularly with a dry soft brush or cloth to clean detailed areas without removing fragile paint layers. Avoid abrasive chemicals or water, and apply a light coat of clear microcrystalline wax to protect the metal from moisture and prevent corrosion.
