This is a fine quality antique Victorian English carved figured walnut Canterbury, circa 1860, in good original condition. The Canterbury boasts four stunning solid walnut pierced fretwork scroll shaped panels, supported by elegant turned bobbin horizontal spindles, providing three partitions, which are ideal for storing magazine, newspapers or music sheets. Below, sits a figured walnut frieze drawer, incorporating the original turned knobs and satinwood stringing. The drawer linings and bottom are constructed of solid mahogany with a hand-dovetailed construction. The drawer also retains the original working lock (with a working key) and escutcheon. The Canterbury stands on its four original baluster turned legs, which incorporate the original brass sockets and original ceramic mug castors.

The Canterbury features a gorgeous mellow burr walnut brown colour. As it boasts the original polish,it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
