Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency glass rummer is a large type of British drinking vessel popular during the early nineteenth century, characterised by a wide bucket or cup-shaped bowl, a short knopped stem, and a heavy circular foot. They were used primarily for serving wine, ale, or punch, often featuring detailed wheel-engraved motifs or facet cutting.

Antique rummers from the Georgian and Regency eras were predominantly crafted from lead crystal glass. This material produced high clarity, weight, and a distinctive resonant ring when struck, providing an ideal substrate for wheel-engraving and facet-cutting.

Authentic Regency glass stemware typically exhibits hand-blown characteristics, including subtle weight variations, micro-scratches on the base from age and use, and a snapped or ground pontil mark on the underside of the foot. The engraving usually shows fine copper-wheel craftsmanship with soft, detailed shading rather than modern acid etching.

A large antique glass rummer functions well as a decorative focal point on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or within a glass display cabinet. It can be showcased individually to highlight its engraving or styled alongside contrasting brass and timber accents for textural depth.

Hand wash antique lead glass individually in lukewarm water using a mild detergent and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid dishwashers, harsh chemicals, or sudden temperature changes, as thermal shock can crack historic glass, and dry immediately with a lint-free towel to prevent water spotting.
