Constructed of solid pitch pine, the bench features a horizontal bar back that is supported by sturdy cast iron adjustable upright arms that travel through the seat. The bar back is designed to be adjustable, meaning that the bench can be used back to front by moving the bar back. This saves having to turn the bench around. The seat is constructed of solid pitch pine and features a concave shape for comfortable seating. The ends of the seat and bar back are chamfered. Two solid cast iron dome shaped stretchers that connect to the adjustable bar back support the bench. This style of bench would have been constructed for use on the British railway system, on station platforms during the late Victorian period. The bench boasts an excellent colour and patination. It is completely original and is very heavy and sturdy.

We have several other benches for sale if you are looking to purchase more than just one bench.
The bench features a rich pitch pine colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition.

Condition Report:
This item is in good and completely original condition. Importantly, there are no breaks to the case iron legs or supporting arms. Nominal old use marks and shakes to the seat and leading edges, including the pine bar back, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The bench boasts its original polish; which is why the colour and patination is excellent. This patination cannot be recreated through re-polishing. The seat and legs are extremely sturdy, well constructed, and solid in joint, ready for use.
