Here is a superb quality pair of 6ft 7” wide French antique provincial cherry wood benches, which are very sturdy and in excellent original condition, circa 1840. The benches are constructed from top quality solid cherry wood using the traditional peg construction method. The seat ends are elegantly arched at either end to provide an attractive shape and give the benches some detail. The benches sit on a pair of sturdy shaped style legs with connected stretcher supports below the seat for added strength and stability. The style legs are shaped (which is a sign of good quality). As these benches are constructed of cherry wood, there is a fantastic soft grain configuration to the seats.
As this item boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.

Condition Report:
The benches are in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As the benches retain the original polish, they have a stunning colour and patination. This stunning colour can only be found in furniture with its original polish; it cannot be recreated with new polish. The cherry wood wood also gives a fantastic grain configuration to the benches. The benches stand firm on the ground, they are very sturdy and do not wobble.
