Settle Bench Pew Fine Victorian Carved Oak by Edwards and Roberts C1880

Here we have a stunning Victorian carved Oak box settle by the famous firm of Edwards and Roberts c1880. As you can see the settle has wonderful colour and patina. Edwards and Roberts were known for their quality and this settle certainly lives up to that reputation. The settle has an old paper label to the rear and the box section is also stamped Edwards and Roberts. There is a lunette carved top rail with raise ends which lead straight to the arms. The arms have Acanthus carved decoration and mythical beast heads to the front. The back has three panels all with wonderful high quality carving. There are Romayne heads to the small panels and the center of the larger panels which is flanked with mythical beasts. The lift up lid has a central carved cartouche and carved thumb moulded edge with chip carving to the rear. The settle has good storage and as you would expect from this maker and Oak panelled back. There is wonderful carving also to the box section front and fantastically shaped ends with pegged blocks. There are a small amount of these settles available this one being as good as it gets from an excellent cabinet making firm. A fine period settle in great retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 54 inches long 33 high and 17.5 deep.
