Description

The ultimate in quality; the finest example of a 19th century mahogany three-drawer desk/side table by the Rolls Royce of British cabinetmaking, Gillows of Lancaster. Each of the three drawers are lined in solid mahogany and retain their original turned knob handles. The overhanging top is surmounted by a three-quarter upstand gallery 3” (75mm) in height, and the beautifully turned and fluted leg supports terminate in solid gilt-brass castors all of which are original. This exquisite piece of English furniture - the best quality money can buy - is of the finest timbers with an untouched finish having a deep rich colour and patination. It is English, late Georgian, c.1820s/c.1830s.
