We understand that this bench originates from the North Wales area. The seat features a stunning arch shaped studded back with a central carved face, flanked by sweeping carved fretwork scroll foliage. The ends of the bench feature lovely turned wooden fixed baluster cushions. The seat itself, which is a stunning colour, features a carved moulded edge. Below, the recessed frieze also features detailed draped carvings interspersed with flowers which in turn end with an arch shaped further friezed. The two front legs are also profusely carved and terminated on carved paw feet. The design and carvings seen on this bench have been taken from the 16th century period.
This item features a rich dark colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
This bench is in excellent original condition and this is what gives it its lovely patination and colour. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Importantly, there are no breaks or damage to the legs. The item is solid in joint and stands firm on the ground (it does not wobble). Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
