The couch is constructed of solid cherry wood, which has been finished with a scrumbled effect. The couch stands elegantly with a back swept upper bar which is supported by dainty turned spindles and below by this there is a further horizontal support bar. The elegant down swept arms are connected to the turned uprights supports. The couch features its original rush seat, which is in excellent condition. Cherry wood strips encompass the rush seat. Below the seat, supporting cross stretchers connects the legs for added strength. This very pretty provincial couch features the original polish and patination and thus the colour of it is superb.
Condition Report:
The item is in excellent original condition and is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The rush seat is complete, clean, dry and free from any damage. The arms and back are solid in joint. The couch stands firm on the ground.
