We understand that this country bench originates from the Breton region of Northern France. It features a pegged construction method to the frame, which terminates in a central shaped pediment. The back of the bench features intricate shaped vertical splats connected to horizontal bars. The frame of the box settle is constructed of pine and the legs of cherry wood. The box section features pretty reeded frame to the seat and sides. The box settles boasts a lift up, on its original hinges, to reveal an interior storage box, which is ideal for storing shoes etc.

The box settle features a rich dark country pine colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
