Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It is topped with a decorative turned gallery above a central mirror flanked by six coat/hat pegs in total. The stunning Minton tile inserts provide a striking contrast to the wonderful light, medium shade of the oak. Below the mirror sits a glove box complete with hinged lid, although today it is more likely to be used as a storage place for keys and mobile phones! The hall stand sits on a base consisting of beautifully turned upright supports with storage space for umbrellas and walking sticks. This impressive antique stand would grace any period hallway with all the necessary grandeur it deserves. It has a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
