Description

Beautiful late 19th.c. Arts & Crafts style walnut hall stand by the celebrated makers Shapland & Petter of Barnstable c.1890. Nine hooks around shield-shaped bevelled mirror, over a marble surface with single glove drawer below and umbrella/stick stand to each side. Set within the solid walnut frame are five beaten or repoussé copper panels with an Art Nouveau influenced leaf motif. The organic theme is continued in the remarkable sinuous shapes of the copperized hat and coat hooks. Exceptional condition, minor water mark to the bottom shelf otherwise exceptional with original mirror, copper panels, hooks, handles, marble and drip trays. With a retailer’s label inside the drawer from James Howel & Co Cardiff.
