George III Mahogany and Inlaid Commode

18th century
Description

Circa 1775, George III mahogany and inlaid commode (adapted). The commode has a three quarter wrap around gallery top with cut out lifting handles and a large inlaid urn in the centre. Below the top is one long drawer with string inlay and crossbanding, two doors with various inlays and floral marquetry, and a single drawer again with similar inlay. The commode has axehead drop handles on the top drawer and cupboard, and a cast brass oval handle on the bottom drawer. The fore edges are inlaid, as are the legs. The commode has good colour on the front and sides.

Size 82cm high x 49.5cm wide x 44cm deep.
