A Late 19thc Adjustable Steel Framed Reading Stand

Description

A late 19thc steel and mahogany adjustable reading/music stand. Perfect for restaurant menues or within a hotel reception. Made by Foots of Great Portland Street London (label to the rear) who are listed with an address in Bond Street and who moved to Gt Portland Street at the turn of the century. The steel is plated in nickel and the feet (2 with casters) are in the ball and claw form with foliate decoration. The stand is adjustable for height and is very stable. The reading surface is of mahogany and is adjustable from horizontal to vertical. It has steel page retainers. The is a separate detachable circular stand suitable for a glass of water (speeches ?).

The reading surface measures 61cm by 41 and the base spread is approximately 50 by 60 cms. The height is perfect for either standing of sitting.
