Description

Lovely Antique 17th Century Westmoreland Carved Oak Box Settle and with the initials M S and Date of 1683. This is Charles 11 and around the time of the Restoration Period. It has a cerved oak top above the carved frieze with initial and date panel and to the backrest and base are four typical Lakeland Celtic Strapwork Panels. It has shaped downswept arms on turned supports and with carved panels to the sides and rough hewn panelled back.

It is all original apart from the hinged plank seat with carved edge which is a later Victorian replacement and it has its original interior and base boards.

Measures: 43" high x seat height 17.5" x 23" deep x 54" wide

In very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the oak oozing all the charm and character of the period.
