An exceptionally rare and highly characterful matching pair of 19th-century English provincial pine cupboard doors, retaining their completely untouched, original scumbled faux-grain finish.Dating from the late Georgian to Victorian era, these doors were historically salvaged from a substantial housekeeper's cupboard, kitchen dresser base, or built-in alcove wardrobe system. Unlike the vast majority of antique pine which was aggressively chemically dipped and stripped in the late 20th century, this pair has survived with its fragile historic paint scheme entirely intact. The scumbling beautifully mimics a costlier rich oak glaze. Each door features two elegantly proportioned, deep-fielded panels surrounded by ogee mouldings. The surface displays a wonderful, deep-country house patina, complete with historic scuffs, ink marks, and age-related wear that tells the story of its utilitarian past.Equipped with one original turned timber knob handle, and an internal recessed shoot bolt . Because of their slim 30mm profile and compact height, they are ideally suited to be integrated into a high-end bespoke alcove project, traditional library cabinetry, or a vintage wardrobe conversion.Offered in good, structurally sound, unrestored country house condition.
