1900 - 1920

The substantial proportions make it particularly suited to displaying a sculpture, vase or other decorative object.

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Plinth stands and torcheres were widely used in late 19th and early 20th-century interiors to elevate and showcase portrait busts, bronze sculptures, decorative urns, or indoor flora such as ferns.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid dense hardwoods like mahogany or oak, featuring wood-lathe turned columns, hand-fluted details, and heavy square bases to ensure stability.

Authentic period examples exhibit natural timber oxidation, minor variations in wood grain from hand-lathe turning, traditional joinery securing the top and base, and age-appropriate wear to the lower base edges.

A mahogany plinth can be positioned in an unused alcove or entryway to display modern ceramic art, architectural objects, or trailing greenery, creating vertical interest in neutral or traditional schemes.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood and preserve the rich original finish.
