Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian silver cream jugs from the late 18th century typically feature baluster or helmet-shaped bodies supported by a pedestal foot or cast feet. They frequently display neoclassical details such as beaded or gadrooned rims, leaf-capped scroll handles, and high pouring spouts.

These vessels were wrought from sterling silver, containing 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural rigidity. Silversmiths raised the main body from a flat sheet using hand-hammering techniques before soldering on cast components such as the handle and foot rim.

Authentic British Georgian silver carries official hallmark stamps consisting of a makers mark, the sterling lion passant, a date letter, and an assay office mark such as Newcastle or London. Examining the weight, age-related wear on high points, and solder lines along joinery also assists in verification.

Antique silver jugs function as decorative accents when placed on a dining room sideboard, serving tray, or mantelpiece. They can be displayed individually as sculptural objects or grouped with other period silver pieces to create contrast against dark wood surfaces.

Preserve antique silver by polishing periodically with a non-abrasive silver foam or cream and a soft cotton cloth. Avoid dishwashers, harsh chemical dips, and prolonged contact with sulphur-rich foods or rubber, which cause accelerated tarnishing.
