Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Louis XVI furniture is characterised by neoclassical symmetry, geometric proportions, and straight lines, departing from the elaborate curves of the Rococo period. Common design features include tapered fluted legs, carved friezes, and motifs inspired by classical antiquity such as floral garlands and paterae.

Craftsmen typically utilized dense European hardwoods such as walnut, oak, and beech, which were often carved, painted, or gilded. These wooden frames were frequently fitted with thick slabs of variegated natural marble, including varieties like Breche or Rouge Royale.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn timber elements, hand-carved decorative work, and traditional pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery. The underside of the wood and the stone top will display irregular tool marks consistent with period handcrafting techniques.

Place the table against a neutral backdrop in an entryway or hallway to highlight its architectural silhouette. Pairing the piece with a minimalist wall mirror or contemporary artwork creates an effective balance between historical detail and modern space.

Dust the carved wooden frame regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish sparingly when needed. Clean the marble top using a pH-neutral stone cleaner to avoid chemical etching caused by acidic substances.
