Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Queen Anne furniture, dating from the early 18th century, is renowned for its graceful proportions, cabriole legs, and understated ornamentation. Walnut was the predominant timber used during this period, often enhanced with figured veneers and subtle crossbanding.

Chests from this era were primarily constructed using solid walnut or oak frameworks adorned with highly figured walnut veneers. Drawer linings were typically crafted from oak or pine, joined with hand-cut dovetails and fitted with cast brass hardware.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn drawer bottoms with substantial pine or oak lining, and secondary wood wear consistent with age. Original brass hardware will show subtle variations from hand-casting, alongside hand-shaped cabriole legs and pad feet.

A period walnut chest provides visual warmth and character when contrasted against modern, clean-lined backgrounds. Placed in an entryway, hallway, or living area, the rich grain and warm patination complement both neutral contemporary tones and traditional colour schemes.

Maintain walnut furniture by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement, cracking, or excessive bleaching.
