Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George I walnut lowboy is a small English table produced during the reign of King George I (17141727). Typically designed with three drawers set into a shaped apron and elevated on cabriole legs, it served as a dressing table or small writing desk in 18th-century homes.

Early 18th-century lowboys were predominantly constructed with pine or oak carcases veneered in figured walnut, burr walnut, or feather-banded borders. Drawer joinery featured hand-cut dovetail joints, oak drawer linings, and cast brass ring or bail handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, natural oxidisation on drawer linings, and hand-cut dovetail joints. Look for period-correct cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, alongside original brass drop or ring handles secured by pommels and cast nuts.

A period lowboy functions as a compact console table in an entryway, a hallway accent piece, or a side table in a living room. Pairing warm walnut timber with neutral contemporary backdrop accents highlights the natural grain and historic silhouette.

Maintain walnut furniture by applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to protect the timber and original patina. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage, veneer lifting, or uneven wood fading.
