Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in late 18th and early 19th-century Britain, a George III bow-fronted chest features a gently convex front profile designed to soften the visual presence of bedroom storage. The style reflects classical Georgian proportions, transitioning from solid Chippendale forms to the lighter, refined curves of the Sheraton and Hepplewhite eras.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from mahogany timber and veneers over oak or pine carcases. Construction features typically include hand-cut dovetail joints on full-depth drawer linings, cockbeaded drawer edges, and solid brass oval plate handles or drop handles.

Authentic early 19th-century examples display hand-planed drawer bottoms, irregular hand-cut dovetails, and original steel locks with brass escutcheons. Look for splayed or straight bracket feet extending from the bottom apron, alongside natural age-related patination on the mahogany surface.

A Georgian mahogany chest works effectively as a functional anchor piece in a hallway, living space, or bedroom. Pair the rich wood tones with neutral wall palettes, large abstract artwork above, and contemporary ceramic or brass accessories on the top surface.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or near central heating radiators to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer lifting.
