Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III chest of drawers dates from the reign of King George III (17601820) and is characterized by classical proportions, high-quality timber such as mahogany, straight or serpentine fronts, and functional additions like pull-out brushing slides.

Primary woods included imported Cuban or West Indian mahogany and walnut, while secondary timbers used for drawer linings and back panels were typically oak, pine, or deal. Hardware consisted of cast brass backplates, swan-neck handles, and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn timber marks on the reverse, original brass fittings, and wear on the bottom edges of the drawer runners. The timber typically exhibits natural oxidisation and patination accumulated over centuries.

A Georgian chest of drawers can serve as a functional statement piece in a hallway, bedroom, or living area. Combining warm mahogany timber with contemporary artwork, structured lighting, or minimalist ceramic decorative objects creates balanced visual contrast.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or discolouration. Dust regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the finish.
