Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian chest of drawers produced between 1714 and 1830 are defined by balanced classical proportions, hand-cut joinery, and the extensive use of high-grade mahogany. Features commonly include cockbeaded drawer edges, graduated drawer depths, and bracket feet.

The primary exterior timber was solid or veneered mahogany, valued for its stability and rich grain pattern. Secondary timbers such as pine or oak were used for drawer linings, back panels, and internal framing, complemented by cast brass handles.

Authentic pieces feature irregular hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed secondary timbers, and historic wear around keyholes and base rails. Original brass hardware often leaves distinct impression marks or faint oxidisation rings on the timber surface.

A Georgian chest operates well as a focal accent piece in contemporary bedrooms, dining spaces, or entrance hallways. Pairing dark mahogany woodwork with light neutral wall paint and modern artwork creates balanced visual contrast.

Dust mahogany surfaces regularly using a clean microfiber cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve timber hydration. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer bleaching.
