Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A gypsy ring is a style of band ring characterised by gemstones flush-set into the metal band without protruding prongs. Popularised during the late Victorian era, this design protected stones during daily wear while providing a smooth profile.

Antique gypsy rings were commonly crafted from 18ct, 15ct, or 9ct yellow gold, rose gold, or sterling silver. They frequently feature gemstones such as rubies, diamonds, and sapphires set directly into thick gold bands.

Authentic Victorian gypsy rings typically feature full British hallmarks indicating gold purity, assay office, and date letter. Additionally, look for star-setting detail, hand-engraved scrollwork on the shoulders, and solid metal construction.

The smooth, low-profile design of a gypsy ring allows it to be stacked alongside simple gold bands or worn alone as a focal piece. Its flush construction prevents snagging, making it suitable for modern daily wear.

Clean the ring gently using warm soapy water and a soft brush to remove dust behind the gemstone mountings. Avoid exposing natural rubies and historical gold alloys to harsh household chemicals.
