Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1901 and 1910, Edwardian silver photo frames reflect a shift away from heavy Victorian ornamentation towards lighter classical forms. They frequently feature delicate engraved swags, garlands, ribbons, bow-knots, and polished borders surrounding central aperture openings.

These frames were typically crafted from thin sheets of sterling silver or silver plate mounted onto easel-backed wooden bases. The backings were often finished with velvet, silk, or leather linings, and the front apertures held glass panes to protect photographs.

Authentic pieces generally feature official British hallmarks denoting the purity of the silver, the city assay office, the makers mark, and a date letter corresponding to the early twentieth century. Construction details like original wooden easel backs and hand-engraved motifs also indicate authenticity.

An antique silver frame can be styled on a mantlepiece, console table, or bedside cabinet as part of a curated vignette. Grouping silver frames of varying sizes creates visual interest while adding a reflective metallic element to contemporary scheme settings.

Careful dusting with a clean microfibre cloth removes surface debris. Tarnish can be removed using specialised silver polishing cloths or non-abrasive silver cream, avoiding contact with non-metallic elements like backing fabric or wood to prevent staining.
