In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King George V (19101936), these frames frequently featured clean, restrained lines reflecting the transition from Edwardian ornamentation to early Art Deco geometric forms. Silver frames from this period were commonly hallmarked in major British assay centres such as Birmingham, London, and Sheffield.

These frames were typically constructed from thin sheets of sterling silver mounted over a solid wooden or velvet-covered core. The front face protected glass panes, while the rear usually featured a hinged easel support made of oak, mahogany, or velvet-lined board.

Authentic British pieces bear a full set of official hallmarks stamped into the silver face or side rim. These marks include the lion passant for sterling silver, a town assay mark, a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture, and a makers mark.

A silver frame can be styled on a mantelpiece, desk, or sideboard alongside contemporary artwork and structured decorative items. Combining metallic finishes with natural wood surfaces creates a balanced contrast that highlights the polished sheen without overwhelming the space.

Silver frames should be gently wiped with a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth and a specialized silver polishing cream to remove tarnish. Avoid submerging the frame in liquid cleaners, as moisture can damage the backing materials, glass, and underlying photograph.
