Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the early 18th century, particularly in the Queen Anne and George I periods, walnut became the premier timber for cabinetmaking in Britain. These chests typically feature figured or burr walnut veneers, feather-banding, a configuration of two short over three long drawers, and shaped bracket feet.

Cabinetmakers utilised pine or oak frames overlaid with walnut veneers to highlight symmetrical grain patterns. Dovetail joints were cut by hand for drawer construction, complemented by cast brass backplate handles and steel lock mechanisms.

Authentic period pieces display hand-sawn drawer linings, thick hand-cut dovetails, and natural shrinkage cracks along side panels. The underside of the carcass usually reveals hand-planed timber surfaces and original bracket foot block supports.

A walnut chest serves as an effective anchor piece in a contemporary hallway, living space, or bedroom. Pairing dark wood tones with minimalist artwork or neutral walls highlights the natural timber grain while providing functional storage.

Keep walnut furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and excessive fading. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year using a soft cloth, rubbing with the grain to protect the historical patina.
