Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-18th century George II furniture is characterised by balanced proportions, clean lines, and the use of rich hardwoods such as walnut and mahogany. Pieces from this era often feature bracket feet, decorative brass backplate handles, and subtle moulding along edge profiles.

18th-century furniture markers employed hand-cut dovetail joints for drawer construction, solid oak or pine secondary woods for drawer linings, and hand-planed backboards. Veneers were often applied to softwood carcasses to achieve symmetry in the wood grain.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished drawer construction, irregular dovetails, period-correct brass escutcheon plates, and signs of historical wear on the underside and drawer runners. Original iron nails and hand-sawn tool marks are also typical indicators of age.

A Georgian chest of drawers works as a anchor piece in a hallway, bedroom, or living area when paired with contemporary artwork or structured table lamps. The dark timber contrasting with modern neutral wall palettes adds depth and historical context to current spaces.

Walnut furniture requires placement away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber warping and finish bleaching. Periodic application of natural beeswax nourishes the wood while preserving accumulated surface patina.
