Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco horology emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by clean geometric shapes, symmetrical proportions, and a departure from elaborate Victorian ornamentation. Clocks from this period often integrated streamlined forms, bold typography, and contrasting materials such as polished wood veneers and metallic accents.

Mantel clocks from the 1930s frequently featured figured wood veneers such as walnut, oak, and mahogany applied over solid timber cores. Dials and decorative elements were commonly constructed using chrome, brass, bakelite, or silvered metal.

Authentic pieces generally display original mechanical movements with key-wind mechanisms, period-correct geometric hour markers, and hand-applied wood veneers. Metal components often show light patination, and the reverse usually houses a hinged access door for mechanical adjustment.

An Art Deco mantel clock serves as a strong focal point on a fireplace mantel, sideboard, or bookshelf. Placing it against neutral walls or pairing it with clean-lined contemporary ceramics highlights its warm timber tones and structured silhouette.

The wooden casing should be kept away from direct sunlight, central heating sources, and excess moisture to prevent warping of the veneer. Mechanical movements require periodic servicing by a professional horologist every three to five years to ensure functional gears and accurate timekeeping.
