Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco mantel clocks from the 1930s are characterised by bold geometric shapes, angular silhouettes, and stylized typography. They reflected modern architectural and industrial design trends, moving away from ornate classical styles toward clean forms.

Craftsmen combined contrasting wood veneers such as walnut, oak, and rosewood with metallic accents like chrome, brass, or bakelite. Movements were typically mechanical spring-driven units set within structured timber cases.

Authentic pieces feature period-accurate geometric dials, characteristic block typography for numerals, and mechanical movement markers stamped on the internal backplate. The timber veneers exhibit age patina along with traditional joinery.

Place the clock as a focal point on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard top, or floating shelf to contrast against contemporary backdrops. Strong geometric lines harmonise well with mid-century modern and eclectic aesthetic schemes.

Dust the wooden case regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish occasionally to nourish the timber. Keep the clock away from direct heat sources and damp environments, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a qualified horologist.
