A good Regency period mahogany writing table dating from the early 19th century, fitted with two long drawers and standing on elegant fluted tapering legs terminating in brass castors.
The well-figured mahogany top sits above two drawers with attractive lion mask ring handles. The upper drawer retains its original fitted interior, incorporating compartments and a pull-out leather writing slide, providing a practical writing surface and useful storage.
Of particular interest, the table is fitted with detachable screw-in legs, allowing it to be dismantled for transport, a feature associated with portable furniture of the period.
Presented in good antique condition with a rich colour and pleasing patina throughout. A versatile piece, equally suited as a writing table, side table or occasional desk.
Circa 1820.
