Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A tub back armchair, also known as a barrel chair, features a continuous curved backrest that seamlessly flows into integrated armrests, forming a semicircular profile popular in Victorian and Edwardian interiors.

Traditional 19th-century tub chairs were built using solid hardwood frames, typically mahogany or walnut, constructed with mortise and tenon joints, hand-laced steel coil springs, natural horsehair padding, and burlap or Hessian webbing.

Authentic Victorian tub chairs usually feature hand-turned front legs, splayed back legs, brass or iron swivel castors, deep button-tufted upholstery, and solid timber frame construction with hand-tacked upholstery layers.

An antique tub chair functions as an accent piece in a reading nook, bedroom corner, or alongside contemporary seating, where re-covering in neutral linen or bold modern fabric bridges traditional and modern aesthetic styles.

Maintain an antique upholstered chair by vacuuming gently with a soft brush attachment, keeping the timber components away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking, and consulting a specialist conservator for traditional reupholstery.
