Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Windsor chair originated in England during the early 18th century, named after the town of Windsor where local craftsmen constructed timber seating for rural homes and gardens. The design gained widespread popularity due to its sturdy construct, ergonomics, and regional variations across different English counties.

Traditional Windsor chairs feature a solid wooden seat, usually carved from elm, into which the turned legs, back spindles, and arm supports are directly socketed. The spindles and backbows were typically made using steam-bent ash, yew, or beech timber secured with wooden wedges rather than metal fasteners.

Authentic period examples feature a hand-shaped saddle seat with visible socket joints on the underside, natural wear on the front stretcher from foot placement, and subtle irregularities in turned elements due to hand-lathe production.

A traditional Windsor armchair provides a warm, tactile contrast when placed alongside minimalist modern sofas, contemporary dining tables, or positioned independently in a hallway alcove decorated with neutral linens and natural materials.

Maintain the timber by applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to prevent the wood from drying out. Keep the chair away from direct heat sources and radiators to minimise shrinking, warping, or movement in the joinery.
